DETERMINATION
Determination is an essential tool when building a successful career in the music industry. A conventional definition for determination is the act of coming to a decision or of fixing or setting purpose. It’s the quality of being resolute, firmness of purpose.
I define determination as not giving up when hitting a wall, but by turning discouragement into encouragement and finding a way around that wall to achieve my goal.
When I was younger, my mother would bake cakes. Though she did this often, she would sometimes forget to add in baking powder with the other ingredients — the cake would never rise. This same factor goes for achieving success within the music business. You can have talent, patience and connections, but without determination, you will not rise. You must clearly know, without a doubt, that if you have all of these essential ingredients, you will succeed.

Brian Kennedy (along with superstar songwriter Brett James) cruised through the video shoot for his latest production effort, “This Time.” The music video was being filmed in downtown Los Angeles last night– an area already packed to the rafters with thousands of people for the monthly event called “Art Walk”– but he got some quality time with the lovely Pia Toscano.

This former Season 10 American Idol contestant caused a stir with her early exit off the show, especially considering she was widely expected to win. So far, it hasn’t affected her career one bit. Interscope Records announced today (7/6) that they signed Pia to a major record deal, and also revealed details about her first single called “This Time.”
Interscope CEO Jimmy Iovine wanted to be sure to come out of the box with a smash hit for their newest priority signing, so they turned to the hottest producer in the game in order to craft the perfect song: BRIAN KENNEDY.
Brian not only produced the record, he also co-wrote it with the incredible ESTER DEAN.
The new single “This Time” will be released on iTunes this Tuesday, July 12th — we’ll put a link up as soon as that is available. A major congratulations goes out to BK!!!!
